Map Illustrations

These expansive map illustrations combine simplified shapes and subtle details to create interesting scenes.

The first map is built with fully scalable and reusable vector elements in Adobe Illustration and relies on the floor plan provided by the client from the previous iteration of the event. This fun and visually-striking map provides both a detailed view and easily-navigable overview. It was originally intended to also have a web component that allowed a much closer inspection than its print application, hence the level of detail, but the web version was cancelled by the client during the course of the project.

The second map was drawn by hand using existing online maps of the area both overhead and street view as a reference. The obviously hand-drawn style was intentionally crafted to match the handwriting of the senior designer on the project, who regularly provided handwriting for the client's brand style. This map was scanned and colored digitally in Adobe Photoshop.
